So, it is very important that you maintain a cohesiveness throughout so that your event flows from beginning to end leaving behind a memorable experience for all in attendance. Below are some of Mama's tips to keep you on track.
- Focus on the scope. Will your event be formal, or more casual? Traditional or modern? Classic or whimsical? Winter wonderland, or a day at the beach? The possibilities are endless.
- Be aware of the season. Planning to throw a Winter Wonderland in the Spring is probably a challenge you'd rather live without. The season itself may also represent your theme. For example, some planning an autumn wedding might focus on oranges and browns, acorns, and harvest and incorporate these design elements throughout the day.
- Select your color palette. The colors
you choose will determine the overall vibe for your event. A deep burgundy might exude a feeling of class or elegance, where as a bright yellow might appear lighthearted and fun. The colors you choose should be consistent with the season, but also illustrate your personality. Please also make sure you choose colors that compliment each other- you may want to consult a color wheel if you are unsure about this.
- Don't go overboard. Just because you are having a beach wedding, does not mean that everything you select should have to do with the sea. Mama recommends the "less is more" mentality. A few shells or star fish here and there can be magical, but you don't want to drown your guests in too much sand and sea.
- Be Consistent. The theme of your wedding will narrow down many choices in your decor enabling a cohesiveness throughout. You want to be sure everything from the dress, the centerpiece, the floral arrangements, even the menu all fit into your overall style.
