The big day is almost here, and it all comes down to the shoes. We are not just talking about the wedding day. The perfect shoe is a staple for any event we're involved in, whether we be the guest of honor, or just attending the event. We have spent countless hours trying to find the perfect dress, with a silouette that will be both flattering, as well as striking. Choosing the perfect shoe to compliment the dress can sometimes be stressful, especially if we want to match the color perfectly.
Mama has some good news for you. The days of boring, unfashionable dyeables are over. These days, you can find some pretty stylish shoes, from strappy sandals to bedazzled pumps that can be dyed to your liking. Plus, where you used to only be able to dye shoes that came in a satin, now there is a whole plethora of fabrics to choose from, including leather. So don't be afraid to grab a swatch of your dress- and dye your shoes to match. Follow Mama's Dye-Namic tips below to ensure a smooth dyeing experience.
Mama's Dye-Namic Tips!
- There are many places that offer dying services, however Mama recommends visiting a shoe repair shop because they offer the largest color selection and usually guarantee their work.
- If there are a group of you dyeing your shoes to the same color, be sure you go in together and have them done at the same time. This will guarantee that the color doesn't vary, which sometimes occurs when the dyeing is done in seperate batches.
- Be sure to request a sample of the dye color on a swatch that is the same fabric as your shoe before moving forward with the dye process.
- The dye has been placed on the shoe, and stained it our desired color. So what do you think happens if the color bleeds on an item of your clothing? Mama suggests that you have your shoes treated with a water repellent after they've been dyed to avoid potential disaster.
