Choosing the color scheme for your wedding is one of the very first tasks you’ll have to mark off your to-do list. The color scheme, just like your wedding theme (in some instances the colors are the theme) will set boundaries for all of your planning decisions. The florist will need to know the color scheme before suggesting particular floral combinations, the bakery will want to know colors before delving into the cake design, and even the caterer will need this information before you can select the linens. The color scheme for your wedding will set the stage for your overall design. No pressure or anything.
If you have a favorite color, or you've already decided on the theme for your wedding, than choosing the color scheme may be a very simple task. For some though, this can prove to be extremely challenging, so here are some tips to help you embrace this new challenge:
Be wary of your venue. If you've already selected a particular venue or reception hall, be sure to take into consideration the color scheme of that particular place. If the room is adorned with red drapery, carpeting, or both- you'll want to choose a color scheme that will compliment the venue's pallett.
Define your personal style. Maybe you are the adventurous, fun-loving, type and wish to see bright colors such as a lime, fuscia, or mandarin. Perhaps you are more of a hopeless romantic and envision a red, burgundy or pink. Or maybe you've dreamed of the more classic elegance of a black and white wedding. How you define your personal style is a great way to start defining your wedding style.
Make seasoned choices. There is no rule that you can only choose browns and oranges in the fall, or red and green in the winter - but there is something to be said for the cohesiveness of your design when your pallett blends beautifully with that of Mother Nature.
